Evaluation of the projects for infrastructures and telematic services within CORVETTE and SERTI

Evaluation of the impacts of some ITSs expected in the Italian area of the projects SERTI and CORVETTE; in detail, the following projects were taken into consideration to evaluate safety and accidents in particular:

• Societā delle Autostrade di Venezia e Padova S.p.A. - project Third Lane (T3);
• Societā delle Autostrade Brescia - Verona - Vicenza - Padova S.p.A. - project Companion;
• Autostrada dei Fiori S.p.A. - integration of several implementations.

Guidelines for the drawing up and validation of Traffic Management Plans

Collection of technical indications to complete the drawing up and validation of Traffic Management Plans to:

  • support technician of Traffic Management Plans by fostering a homogeneous approach to allow a simpler training and interchangeability of the operators in charge of management;
  • to ease the diffusion of TMPs by making their planning and implementation simpler

Update of the Traffic Management Plan "Hannibal" to handle the critical points at the crossings Italy-France caused by an accident inside the Tunnel of Fréjus.

Evaluation of the projects for infrastructures and telematic services within the project CORVETTE MIP 2002 and SERTI MIP 2002: Analysis of accident rates

Analysis of the causes of accidents on the Italian motorways with particular attention on the motorways taking part of the projects CORVETTE and SERTI, and evaluation of the impact expected of the ITS (Intelligent Transport System) on road safety. The results of the study were presented within the Projects CORVETTE and SERTI and the Euroregional Conference. Mr. Maja and Mr. Studer are members of the Tempo Expert Evaluation Group of the European Committee for the evaluation of the projects ITS.

Evaluation of the impact on road safety, traffic efficiency and level of acceptance on the part of users defined by the new telematic applications within MIP 2001.

Assessment of the impact of the projects implemented within the phase IV of CORVETTE on road safety, defining a method of evaluation to assess in terms of quality and quantity the reduction of road accidents rates after the implementation of the projects within CORVETTE.
